my hc is that all the scars seen on his face are self inflicted. to him, they are a way to reclaim his autonomy from roba. we see that roba uses very possessive language when referring to him (e.g: "my property"), so to me its an efficient way to show the sequels of the torture

this is so important to me... talked about it briefly on my priv. although i consider the comics to be bad (objectively), i think they establish interesting lore and characterization for ghost, so i try to represent that in my design for him. ill elaborate on that further here
was also thinking about roba going 'not his face. keep it pretty.' so ghost has scars all over his body and tally marks on his thighs but his face is scarless
