Post - Hyper-ballad: Björk’s fascination with the underground club scene of 90s London resulted in creating one of the best song from the decade. The electronic acid house song produced by her and nellee hooper paved a way for future generations of artists
Debut - Big time sensuality: a house disco track about love for life which is the main theme of her debut album. The song also shows Björk’s lust for exploring the unknown after moving from Iceland to London to start her solo career.
Vespertine - Hidden place: when I think of vespertine I immediately think of this song. It combines all the elements which makes this album a true masterpiece - micro beats, dramatic chorus and winter fairy tale atmosphere a true art pop perfection!
Homogenic - Bachelorette: the continuation of the story of Isobel from post. The orchestral instrumentation combined with vulcanic beats creates the grand atmosphere which is present throughout the album one of her best songs in my opinion!!!
Volta - Wanderlust: "This one is my manifesto" as björk herself said this track is a core of Volta. The song is about "the state of looking for something and almost knowing you're never going to find it" it also contains the iconic trumpets that are present throughout the album
Fossora - Fossora: the song contains clarnets and gabber beats. On this track Björk’s idea of putting down the roots really shows out with lyrics about the fungi spreading through the soil.
Vulnicura-Family: Marks a turning point of the story which is the beginning of healing process "Family was the cornerstone song on the album that really also embodied the different movements of this whole album, from the heartbreak to the healing to the empowerment at the end"
Biophilia - Moon: song’s instrumental is based only on four harps. A beautiful ode to human connection with nature and rebirth - "With each new moon we complete a cycle and are offered renewal -to take risks, to connect with other people, to love, to give"
Medulla - Mouth’s cradle: bjorks song about breastfeeding which is connected to one of the main themes of the album - a motherhood. The song contains only human voices - beatboxing, choir and Tanya Tagaq’s throat singing
Utopia - Losss: björk reflects on her divorce but in different perspective "You’re looking at the big picture, so it’s not personal like ‘Vulnicura,’ but it does have to have that same feeling" The song has more optimistic lyrics about the acceptance of grief as a part of life
