No progress has been made in the on-going negotiations after the City of Edmonton chose not reach out to the union over the weekend. Today, Civic Service Union 52 has served strike notice to the City of Edmonton and Edmonton Public Library. After the 72 hour notice period, the picket line will begin at 11:00am on Thursday, March 14th. #yeg #csu52

On this day in 1958, more than 6000 Newfoundland loggers began a strike against Anglo-Newfoundland Development for wage increases and improvements in living conditions at camps. At the time, loggers in Newfoundland were the lowest paid in Canada. #canlab #cdnpoli #nlpoli

On this day in 2005, Adam Yawrenko from Terrace, BC man who had been fired during a @Telus strike in BC and Alberta, returned to work after winning his job back. He had been arrested for breaching an injunction against blocking access to Telus buildings. #canlab #cdnpoli #bcpoli

On this day in 2010, Sherbrooke's blue collar workers began a 13 day strike. While essential services were maintained, many of the other services were reduced for the duration of the strike, including garbage pickup and snow removal. #canlab #cdnpoli #qcpoli #polqc

On this day in 2014, members of CUPE 2262 signed a six-year agreement with the City of Castlegar Council, ending a 5-week strike. The agreement included a 10.3% wage increase, and improved benefits and job security language. #canlab #cdnpoli #bcpoli
