Waiting for someone to put the football back in Tottenham Hotspur Football Club… #ENICOut
Joined June 2011
Yup. I’m pretty sure his system exacerbates the injuries (just look at his record at Celtic) - which begs the question why on earth did the club employ him if they weren’t willing to shell out on a massive squad to accommodate that? They spent an entire fucking summer assessing managers before deciding on Ange. So either they didn’t do their research properly (despite spending months on it), or they knew the risk but decided to plough and hope for the best (and sell Kane 3 days before the season started without replacing him) Neither option exactly covers them in glory, but what’s new? They never give our managers the players they ask for.

6 years ago, Spurs were in a Champions League final and Aston Villa were in the Championship. Since then, not only have they caught us up, they’ve overtaken us. Meanwhile, we’ve raked in a whopping £2.2bn in revenue - 3x more than as Villa’s 734m. So sure, Daniel, keep telling us “it’s hard to do deals” and “we need outside investment to compete”. It’s definitely not down to the lack of a compelling football vision and strategy at this club 🙄 “Game changing stadium”, eh…

RT @Ramon_Vega71: There's no point in calling for Pochettino. 1. He is already contracted and committed to @USMNT, and it would be disres…

I’m not actually Ange out. Some of the stuff he does baffles me a bit, but the fact we haven’t managed to field anything resembling our first (or even a consistent) team for so long means I don’t feel I can really judge him. And like you say, I still feel the players (most anyway) are behind him. While we’re in a big fat mess, this is more an inevitable conclusion to years of negligence on the football side of our club than *just* Ange. The above was just explaining why I don’t think Levy will pull the trigger (when he usually would at this point). And, as usual, it’s not for football reasons!

My new worry is that they’ve now pushed the value of the club so high with all the non-football “assets” that the only buyer we can hope to attract is either someone with the exact same mindset or an asset stripper 😭 Need someone who understands business to tell me how we could possibly get out of this with an owner whose priority is football…?

Correct. We’re now in a position where decent managers won’t want to come here, because they’ve seen exactly how it works - ENIC have basically made the job a poisoned chalice and they’ve now run out of options. Change at board level is the only real solution now - if you care about the football that is. Which they don’t - evidenced by the fact Levy paid himself the highest salary in the league this season, presumably because they think he’s doing a sterling job….?

@C_O_Y_S_THFC I’m not remotely surprised we lost. That post was mainly tongue in cheek cos I knew that was going to happen.. but was hoping it wouldn’t. Silly me 🤦🏼♀️

Spot on. Which is why we need to make our voices heard next weekend. We are paying the price (quite literally) for our board’s failure to prioritise football. Daniel Levy is using our money to pay himself the highest chairman’s salary in the PL - all while telling us we can’t afford to buy a squad to compete with the big boys. They can’t have it both ways - it’s time for change 👇🏼

@C_O_Y_S_THFC We f-ed it up a long time ago with our piss poor strategy over the past decade 😖

I agree with most of what you’re saying and yes, the odds are heavily weighted in their favour. I just think at the very least we can make things a bit less comfortable for them. Arsenal put pressure on their owners and they DID invest more, so it’s not totally unheard of. I will also leave it there 😊👍🏼

They don’t ignore it though, they actively try to shut it down 😂 so it obviously does bother them at least a little bit. They’ve never had to deal with a real proper campaign against them with decent backing from a large proportion of the fanbase… I think we are starting to reach that tipping point.

@James_COYS_ Well then, the very least we can do is keep trying to taint his precious image. If he just wanted to run a property company he should have bought one that didn’t come with annoying football fans attached 🤷🏼♀️

I know exactly why they are doing it. And I think we have a responsibility as fans to remind them that they didn’t buy a property development company, they bought a football club. Don’t want to deal with annoying fans? Don’t buy a football club then. Go and buy a property and entertainment venue somewhere else that doesn’t come with the added expectation of running a successful football team 🤷🏼♀️
