After three incredible years with the
@DallasStars
, a new chapter in my life begins with the
@SeattleKraken
as their director of communications. It was a privilege to work alongside such a great group in Dallas. Here's to a new journey in the Emerald City!
With a goal 1:08 into the game, the Stars become the first time in NHL history to score within the opening 75 seconds of a contest in four straight games.
Roope Hintz is the one of FOUR players in franchise history to record two shorthanded goals in a game and THE FIRST in Dallas Stars history (1993-present) to accomplish the feat. It also marks the first time it’s ever been done on home ice.
A bit of personal news to share:
After spending the past nine years in digital content, I’m moving to the PR side of the
@DallasStars
as communications manager. I’m really excited to get back into the field that started it all for me!
Jake Oettinger on the fans at AAC tonight: "They turned it up even more. They don't realize how much that helps us. We're going to need them again on Monday [for Game 4]."
The Stars took out a full-page ad in today’s
@DallasNews
to pay tribute to
@swish41
’s jersey retirement. Really cool gesture for a
@dallasmavs
icon and Dallas sports legend.
Thomas Hodges is getting hi-fives from every Stars player and ends with a hug from Jamie Benn. The Stars scooped up the game puck and handed it to the Ducks to give to Hodges.
That's the most hyped I've seen Jake Oettinger. He leapt into the air after that final stop on William Karlsson. He kept the Stars alive, going 7-for-7 in the shootout.
The Stars have four wins in their past five games and four in a row at home. They’ve outscored their opponents 18-6 over their past four home games and bumped their record over .500 (8-7-2). Biggest win of the season.
Jason Robertson’s impact on kids is enormous. As he talks to the media in the hallway, a gathering of kids down the way notice, gasp, and say “Oh my god it’s Jason Robertson! It’s Jason Robertson!”
The plan is for goaltender Ben Bishop to go to Texas (AHL) on a conditioning stint. He’s hoping to play Thursday vs. Chicago Wolves and take it from there.
Jake Oettinger pumps his fist emphatically as he skates onto the ice after being named second star of the game. Crowd goes wild. He made 39 saves on 41 shots, none bigger than his breakaway save on Johnny Gaudreau.
Now the captain Jamie Benn gets right up in Nikita Zadorov's grill. When Benn's smiling in these situations, it's usually not good for the guy in his crosshairs.
Tonight marks Joe Pavelski's 1,100th career regular-season game. He becomes the 28th American-born player in NHL history and one of only four active American-born NHL players to reach that milestone.
Stars captain Jamie Benn becomes the third player in franchise history to reach 900 games with the team, while he currently ranks third in franchise history in points (740) and fourth in goals (320) and assists (420).

Radek Faksa appreciation tweet.
Tonight, he finished with an assist, four hits, four blocked shots and a plus-1 rating in 19:30 TOI. He also went 7-of-11 in faceoffs (64%).
He leads the team with four points (1g/3a) in four games.
Scotty Niedermayer is the kind of guy who would pick up your fallen wireless mic receiver pack and stand next to you and hold it because he didn't want your audio to cut out for your speech. (That really just happened).
Doing what I do for a living, you naturally build friendships with guys in the room. None were closer to me than Cogs. I'd like to think he and I are tight. So that makes it even tougher on a personal level. I wish him all the best in Dallas. Gonna miss you, man.
The 2020-21 season was unlike any other for me. Started unfortunately with a furlough in Anaheim, but ended with a new opportunity in Dallas. Worked the final nine games of the season and got to be a part of a great playoff race. Very thankful.
The players postgame pointed out the electric atmosphere inside the arena (no pun intended). Roope, specifically, said the fan support has been great all season, but especially so tonight. This place erupted when he scored, and the guys felt it.
In my short time here with Dallas, I forged a tight bond with John Klingberg. Had great times. He’d always ask if I picked him for my Stars first goal prediction. We’d share laughs when I’d ask him if his stick “was hot” that particular day (he says it in the video below).
DET’s Dylan Larkin left tickets for CBJ’s Zach Werenski’s parents today, and Larkin and Werenski ended up fighting each other in the final minute of the game. Hockey.
Grant, on his hat trick: "A friend of mine told me if I get a hat trick this year I’d get to name his first-born, so I’m excited about that."
The legend continues.
Oh. My. God. San Jose was losing by two with two minutes left against Vegas. They tie it with 0.9 seconds left, kill off a penalty in OT and win it in a shootout.
Stars hold a three-point lead on the Golden Knights, who they host on Tuesday.
With forward Joel Kiviranta under contract now, the Finns on the roster include:
Jani Hakanpää
Miro Heiskanen
Roope Hintz
Joel Kiviranta
Esa Lindell
Love this. The Finnish 5? Finns for the Win? Finnish Mafia? Dallas Stars of Finland? To inFinnity and Beyond?
Oettinger had a great game and so did Pavelski, but how about Tyler Seguin delivering a clutch three-point performance last night? He was great on the power play and delivered the dagger with his empty-net goal. He needs four goals to reach 20.
The Stars also put an end to Nazem Kadri's 10-game point streak, which was the longest active point streak entering tonight's game. Dallas improves to 9-7-2 on the season, one point behind Colorado.

First career hat trick for Jason Robertson. Legendary performance. He somehow finds something left in the tank to chase down the loose puck. What a goal. What a game. What a win.
Stars are in the 1st wild card.
Stars prospect Mavrik Bourque (2020 1st rd., 30th overall) wins the Guy Lafleur Trophy as MVP of the QMJHL playoffs. Bourque 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists) and a +17 rating in 16 games, including five goals and nine points in the championship (5 GP).
Waiting for his turn to speak to the media, Jacob Peterson leans in and quietly tells me "It's the same move I made in El Paso. Remember?"
I certainly do. What a move.
May 5, 2017
Anaheim erased a three-goal deficit vs. Edmonton in a span of 3:01 in 3rd, won in OT.
May 23, 2021
Winnipeg erased a three-goal deficit vs. Edmonton in a span of 3:03 in 3rd, won in OT.
#StanleyCup
To recap:
- Mavrik Bourque: QMJHL postseason MVP
- Logan Stankoven: WHL Player of the Year
- Wyatt Johnston: OHL Most Outstanding Player
- Artem Grushnikov in OHL final (vs. Johnston)
- Conner Roulette in WHL final

Yesterday, Stars forward Jacob Peterson was in Frisco for locker clean-out day. Today (right now), he's playing for Sweden in the World Championship in Tampere, Finland. He has an assist on Sweden's lone goal vs. Finland.
Joe Pavelski says the sold-out crowd tonight gave the team a huge boost. "Shot of energy," as he put it. The atmosphere in the building tonight was palpable. The fans knew what was at stake.
Roope Hintz innocently passing pucks into teammates’ skates without them knowing to generate a reaction just now was a joy to watch. Finally, Kiviranta took notice after two pucks bounced off his skates. The two then sauced pucks to one another. Those Finns…
Did the math from the time I worked my first NHL game back on Oct. 3, 2009. Now, 14 seasons later, I'm working game No. 999 tonight. Ironically, regular-season game No. 1,000 is Feb. 6 against Anaheim. Grateful for each one.
In Max Comtois’ stall is this rubber duck, given to him during his first year in juniors at a tournament, he told me. Team kept winning, so it served as kind of a good luck charm. It’s been in his stall ever since, both at home and on the road.
A few updates from Stars head coach Rick Bowness today:
John Klingberg is likely to play tomorrow in Columbus.
Blake Comeau and Jason Robertson practiced today, but will not travel to Columbus.

Jacob Peterson is set to make his playoff debut tonight in Game 5. Had 12 goals in his rookie season, five of which serving as game winners. He’ll start with Vlad Namestnikov and Luke Glendening.
Ah, that's great. Among the hats that were on the ice after Steel scored his third goal was Ryan Miller's. Millsy is one of the best guys on and off the ice. Great teammate and role model for the young guys.
Big congrats to Andrew Cogliano, who tonight is set to play his 1,000th career NHL game. A pro’s pro. Great role model. Fortunate to have worked alongside him during his years in Anaheim.
I've only seen Stars playoff games at American Airlines Center on TV, so I can't even imagine how loud this place must get. We just gotta get there. We're rocking in here tonight. Fans have been awesome all season. Love their energy, passion.
Pretty sure Jamie Benn picked up his own teeth after getting high sticked. Normally you'll see guys head down the tunnel, but he's still at the end of the bench. Quick swish of water. All good.
On this day five years ago Matt Beleskey scored one of the greatest goals (in my opinion) in Ducks franchise history when he buried a rebound in Game 5 of the 2015 WCF to give Anaheim a 5-4 OT win and a 3-2 series lead over the Blackhawks. Iconic image of him catching air.
Good on Roope Hintz for asking the on-ice officials for the puck after Dallas' fifth goal as it represented Pavelski's career-best fifth point of the game.
With an assist tonight, Jason Robertson's point streak at home reaches eight consecutive games placing him in a tie with Colorado's Gabe Landeskog for the longest active home point streak in the NHL.
At the end of his media session at the airport here in Dallas, Jake Oettinger (who lives near AAC), says he hopes to see plenty of people wearing green around downtown this weekend. Game 3 is tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. CT. Series is tied, 1-1.
Teammates, family and Ducks/Honda Center staff members, many of which wearing fake beards, surprised
@Patrick_Eaves
in the lobby just now. His Get Well banners are there, too. Great way to finish off 2017. Love this team.
Nine-year-old Nick Armstrong, whose wish was to practice with his favorite team and watch a game in person, skates onto the ice with Corey Perry, the No. 1 Star of the Game. What a moment. More on Nick here.
Jason Robertson has 43 goals, 54 assists and 97 points in 100 career NHL games.
Second-round pick (39th overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft. If there was a re-draft, he'd easily be a top-10 pick. Maybe even top-five.
Had a chance today to catch up with Devin Shore, who last week received his college diploma from the University of Maine. Despite turning pro as a junior, he kept chipping away at courses to earn his degree. Story in the coming days.
#NHLDucks
Per NHL Stats, Joe Pavelski is the first player age 37 or older (entering play) to record five points or more in a regular-season game in more than 10 years (Teemu Selanne, at 40 years, 268 days had three goals and five points on March 28, 2011 with Anaheim).
#TexasHockey
Seeing Joe Pavelski's emotions in his postgame interview, it shows how much every player on this team means to one another. Whether you play every night or only when your name is called, it's family. Glad to hear Tanner Kero is conscious, alert and responsive.
"To the fans [of Anaheim], I just want to say thank you."' -- Corey Perry. A two-time NHL First Team All-Star and four-time All Star, Perry posted 776 points (372g/404a) in 988 games with Anaheim from 2005-19. Cup champ in 2007.
