I respect many of the people who work with PEN, but you cannot say that we are allowed to disagree, voice different opinions on stage, etc... and then also have someone so high up in the organization imply that if we are a part of PEN we are saying it aligns with our advocacy.

And I want to add: PEN should stand with all writers—but you cannot stand with the dead. Protecting those who are at risk of death supersedes all other concerns. Stand for people rather than ideas. Standing is a metaphor when you are speaking of the dead.
