@johnpeslar @AFpost I was just saying that Americans and Europeans, even though knowing there is a different meaning, won’t be able to look past the other meaning. Not that there can be only one meaning or anything like that.

@johnpeslar @AFpost I mean, I can see the perspectives, but it is pretty much impossible to ask an American or European to forget that the symbol was used in one of the worst genocides in human history. I think it’s nice that you can see the symbol for what it originally stood for.

@johnpeslar @AFpost It is fascinating, but some of those cultures absolutely know, not all 1.2 B of them know of the nazis but some of them do, and I am not saying that there is anything wrong with using it as a symbol of peace for those cultures, but other cultures will never view it that same way.

@johnpeslar @AFpost Just because they choose to view it differently doesn’t mean they don’t also know of the symbols dark history as well, WW2 was a shock to the whole world, and I don’t think people have forgotten, people’s entire families were destroyed by people using that symbol for hatred.

@johnpeslar @AFpost It may be a symbol of peace and prosperity in those religions, however it has also been used as a symbol of hatred in the last century. Kanye when making this shirt did not mean for it to mean peace and prosperity, he didn’t. He is specifically using the nazi interpretation.

@Kellandcam @StopmotionSam22 @MemesAgnstHmnty @DiscussingFilm The point is that Captain America isn’t a person, it’s a title, one that was passed onto Sam. So Sam is now Captain America due to the title being given to him, he isn’t taking his whole theme, he was rewarded the title.
