@DrPatSoonShiong Newsom did this in Seotember 2024, long before you started kissing RFK's bum. California and Newsom were leading the way for RFK, not the other way around. This is why journalism should be done by journalists, not by serially inaccurate billionaires who don't bother with facts.

A terrific interviewer on Texas Public Radio had me on his talk show this week to talk about the employer movement to value skills over school degrees. Turns out that he forged a journalism career and became an NPR affiliate host without a bachelor's!

@DrPatSoonShiong If you read your own paper before this, you would know that the letters editor picks, and always has picked, a representative sample of letters to publish on a given topic. If 80% of letters are pro-whatever, then about 80% of the published letters will be, and so forth.

@Joe_Gierut @maxwelltani Perhaps it would be helpful for you to inform yourself before your helpful judgment of dumbness. The Times online cancellation form offers very few options to describe why someone is leaving. "Editorial content" is as close as it gets.

I am one of the three members of the LA Times editorial board who resigned over the owner's craven decision not to endorse. Here is my column in the Hollywood Reporter about why this was different from an ordinary disagreement between board and owner.

@kshock9103 @DrPatSoonShiong @latimes Actually, that's not true. The editorial page is the one place that the ownership can ethically interfere. That said, the question is why this decision was made, the only decision to silence the editorial board's endorsements.

@maxwelltani Max, to correct a small inaccuracy, I am a current member of the editorial board, not former. I know you got that from the Times website, which was never updated when I was rehired.

@fredzannarbor @yashar As a member of the Times editorial board, I never heard of this "prompt" before he posted on X nor did the editorial board ever choose silence. Times endorsements are viewed so favorably by readers that they have brought in close to 1,200 new subscribers since Oct. 1.

High school students who aren't planning on college say it's all they hear about at school, a Gallup Poll finds. Only a fifth get any guidance about the many jobs and careers that don't require a bachelor's. I discuss this on NPR's "It's Been A Minute."
