My therapist yesterday was so excellent & gave the advice that if you feel like you're going to cry or lose it, realize that you're processing grief. We're losing parts of our way of life for now or permanently, and mourning it is completely natural.

There's never a great time to have your dog be in the hospital, and wow is right now especially un-great. Stopped eating, couldn't keep anything down, seems to be pancreatitis, and they're keeping her for the next day. Spare a good thought for this sweet dork if you have one?

I tweeted this a year ago today. In total, 42 residents died of COVID-19 at my mother's nursing home. She was one of them, one of the 607,742 Americans who have died from this virus. The numbers are still rising. I cannot comprehend how people are still in willful denial.
