HOT TAKE: 5v5ers think the game is “better” because it actually receives love and updates.
Imagine if ow1 6v6 got this much love as the current game does.
After so much playtime, around 12k hours and throughout the years, I can fully say that 6v6 still was the best form of Overwatch.
I’m not saying double shield was great, or that goats was great. Both were terrible but man, when 6v6 was good, it was GREAT. I miss it.

5v5 did not solve queue times.
5v5 “solved” some balance issues but then created so many more.
5v5 makes the game deathmatchy and one dimensional.

I remember how terrible comps like ball hog could beat hard meta like orisa sigma if you outplayed the enemy team but now if you get counter picked as tank you have no 2nd tank to help you play through the counters. And your only option is to play rock paper scissors or mirror

another little thing that doesn’t really matter, reskins in fortnite are usually $8 in vbux but still change the skin enough to be different. Reskins in overwatch are 6 years old and cost 20 each. Obviously skins shouldn’t cost this much in any game but epic puts more $ back in.

however epic puts a lot of money back into their game and into their pro scene prizes, blizzard doesn’t. Blizzard has made so much money from their new shop and battle pass but puts out infinitely less meaningful updates/changes.
