"TF2 is so silly, why would two completely identical hostile organizations, distinguished only by color and name, build their gigantic bases practically touching each other all around the country?"
The premise of "What if a (poorly) hidden private war was secretly being waged in post-war America's industrial heartland?" is so timeless and fantastic, we really took it for granted in 2007.

You know you're some kind of legend when your cast-bronze statue involves a belt-fed machine gun.
This statue was set this morning at Delta Park in Hoquiam, Washington. This park was created to honor Major General Eldon Bargewell in his hometown. We should definitely be doing more things like this all across America.

There’s something uniquely awesome about how Panzerbefehlswagen VI Tiger (P) 150013 was the only Porsche Tiger to see combat. Just imagine being the commander of a tank that is literally the only one of its kind.

Alright but what if it was a failed utopia filled with rampant gangs and warlordism and I had to insert onto the roof via rocket-assisted drone glider with a suppressed MAC-10 and extract a high value target held hostage deep within the central core facilities?.
Paolo Soleri's 'Hexahedron City' (1969), with its superimposed pyramids, each twice as tall as the Empire State Building, was designed to be adaptable to any terrain and able to house 170,000 people

@jamesclamar That and they love being iconoclasts for things enjoyed by the "wrong" kind of 'gross nerds'. But ego as a writer is a huge part of it yes.
