This reminds me of one NGO in 2018 that brought young political aspirants from across the country for a 2-day retreat to enlighten and expose us to the rudiment of politics. The then speaker of the house of rep, senate president (sent a representative), and so many top dignatories, including representatives of international bodies, were in attendance at the program. They lodged all the young aspirants (over 100) at Transcorp Hotel and nearby hotels. They covered our flight ticket and feeding, and even gave us a stipend for the duration of our stay there. It never made sense to me why anyone would do that (spend huge money on people who they barely knew just to 'enlighten' them). It is beginning to make sense now.
