@noboru_kisaragi もちろん図書館でよろしいかと思います。学術書はほんとうに高くなりました。ポイントは、図書館で購入していただけるかどうか。高くなったからこそ、公共図書館の役割が大きいと思います(大学の図書館も専門書の購入に苦労していらっしゃいます)。

Indeed. I remember Jim telling me that more than half of the books you read shouldn’t be from your discipline. It was not an easy advice to follow, but I’m glad that I’ve tried.
James C. Scott ends his autobiographical notes with some advice to avoid the tendency in Political Science to narrow one’s intellectual lens.👇 I would add that the problem is not just a matter of sources one reads but also of the questions one is willing to research.
