My husband was working overseas. He had a week off and wanted to come home, which would have involved two 15 hour flights. I said to him that by the time he got home he would have to turn around and leave. He waited a couple of beats & said “meet me in Paris”.

I’m in a taxi. Driver asks if I work at the station (he picked me up in front of the building). We talk for awhile. He’s lovely. At the destination, he says, “I haven’t asked your name”. I tell him. He exclaims “Kerry Nolan! I listen to you all the time!

Richard and I arrived at WNYC at about the same time. We devoured oysters and martinis at Aquagrill, bonded over our disparate love of Streisand and Springsteen and compared our successes and failures gardening. I will miss him more than I can say.
