@Thomasod10 My number one on this - would we put our own smallies in cars with strangers? Children are brought to family visits by multiple people who they don’t know and often have never met before. Imagine how unsafe that feels

@NiDhubhda Considering 6 sessions is often what is offered to children and adults who have experienced huge trauma and those working with them (if offered at all), sadly I can’t see them offering more to jurors. Serious lack of understanding of trauma and vicarious trauma.

@GarNob Me too Gareth and I felt so sorry for parents / family members sitting there all day, some with no decent coats, some not able to get tea / coffee to warm up - the new advocacy service were declined a tea/coffee station there for parents 😢

@psychpolis I see this all the time with children in care who have experienced huge trauma when services (sometimes incl camhs) don’t know how to explain a young person’s behaviour so they label them with EUPD.

RT @epicireland: This Christmas, you can make a difference in the lives of care-experienced young people by supporting EPIC's Christmas fun…

@garethkthomas Which takes away a healthy, inclusive, regulating and fun activity making the day even harder for the child but also for the adults 😢

@anne_meade13 @TeachingCouncil @katrionaos Agreed - teachers do rock. By no means a criticism of teachers but more so I see enthusiastic teachers every day wanting to learn more & trying their best. Teachers have to support and teach children with such diverse needs and deserve support themselves

@NiDhubhda @TeachingCouncil @INTOnews @janehmul I have heard of it Sandra and it’s great it’s so successful. I still think there’s scope and a need for more around developmental trauma and attachment rupture for teachers but most professionals incl social workers don’t receive this training … yet 🤞

What also works well in limerick is cases are given a time slot and whilst some may run on causing delays, it avoids all parties sitting in court from 10.30am which is hugely time consuming
@ChildLawProject call for Limerick model to be replicated across Ireland: "The Limerick model is best practice, where you hear all the child protection cases together in one sitting. It's a civil child protection welfare matter, not a criminal matter."
