Here a wet weather spring melted the snow exposing the grass to sub zero temperatures. This demonstration of how well snow insulates is not something we get to see regularly in KY.

As the 20+/- days of snow cover melted across much of the state it was followed by significant rainfall over the past week. I am impressed with superintendents and sports field managers that have been able to get golfers out and teams practicing over the past week!

I'm thankful to have @VTTurfPath joining us at the Short Course. Dr. McCall's research examines remote sensing to advance disease control in turfgrass systems. He will speak on "Advancements in disease control" & "Improving turf type tall fescue".

@HutchensWendell @ArkansasTurf O.J. Noer was impressed with zoysia in KY as early as 1942 when a Louisville club had converted 15 of their tees from a nursey developed with stock from the Arlington Turf Gardens
1946 Golfdom picture of a zoysia matrella tee at Audubon CC in Louisville KY. In an earlier '42 article O.J. Noer stated " The ball teed up well, and the surface was firm for play" & " Based on experience there, zoysia offers great possibilities in regions from Louisville south."
