It's really important that people understand something: tariffs are paid by the importer, not the exporter. That cost is then passed on to their customers. This means tariffs on Chinese (or any) imports are a massive tax increase on Americans. Trump's statement is 100% untrue👇🏾
The United States Treasury has taken in MANY billions of dollars from the Tariffs we are charging China and other countries that have not treated us fairly. In the meantime we are doing well in various Trade Negotiations currently going on. At some point this had to be done!

Celebrating Black History in Literature Frances Ellen Watkins Harper (1825-1911) "Bury Me in a Free Land" (1858) Make me a grave where'er you will, In a lowly plain, or a lofty hill, Make it among earth's humblest graves, But not in a land where men are slaves. I could not rest if around my grave I heard the steps of a trembling slave. His shadow above my silent tomb Would make it a place of fearful gloom. I could not rest if I heard the tread Of a coffle gang to the shambles led, And the mother's shriek of wild despair Rise like a curse on the trembling air. I could not sleep if I saw the lash Drinking her blood at each fearful gash, And I saw her babes torn from her breast, Like trembling doves from their parent nest. I'd shudder and start if I heard the bay Of blood-hounds seizing their human prey, And I heard the captive plead in vain As they bound afresh his galling chain. If I saw young girls from their mother's arms Bartered and sold for their youthful charms, My eye would flash with a mournful flame, My death-paled cheek grow red with shame. I would sleep, dear friends, where bloated might Can rob no man of his dearest right; My rest shall be calm in any grave Where none can call his brother a slave. I ask no monument, proud and high To arrest the gaze of the passer-by; All that my yearning spirit craves, Is bury me not in a land of slaves. –––––––––––––––––––––––– Frances Ellen Watkins Harper is a central figure in the abolitionist movement, and the most widely read African American poet before the Harlem Renaissance. Born free in Baltimore, MD, Harper made it her life's mission to fight for the freedom of others. notes from "Sacred Land Regained: Frances Ellen Watkins Harper and 'The Massachusetts Fifty-Fourth,' A Lost Poem" by Donald Yacovone

Happy Birthday Rosa Parks (1913-2005)!🎉 I'm grateful for the life I live because of brave American patriots like Mrs. Parks. Today we celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth with the 1998 poem "Rosa" by Rita Dove (1952-), a Pulitzer Prize winning author and the first Black Poet Laureate of the United States. "Rosa" How she sat there, The time right inside a place So wrong it was ready. That trim name with Its dream of a bench to rest on. Her sensible coat. Doing nothing was the doing the clean flame of her gaze carved by a camera flash. How she stood up when they bent down to retrieve her purse. That courtesy.

Celebrating Black History in Literature "If We Must Die" (1919) by Claude McKay If we must die, let it not be like hogs Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot, While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs, Making their mock at our accursed lot. If we must die, O let us nobly die, So that our precious blood may not be shed In vain; then even the monsters we defy Shall be constrained to honor us though dead! O kinsmen! we must meet the common foe! Though far outnumbered let us show us brave, And for their thousand blows deal one death-blow! What though before us lies the open grave? Like men we'll face the murderous, cowardly pack, Pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back! Published in The Liberator, July 1919 #BlackHistoryMonth
