Basically I’m retired so my income isn’t going to keep up with the rate of tax increases in addition to other costs of living items. It’s just frustrating that this is happening in Maine. I was especially frustrated when the SoPo Mayor suggested that seniors could reverse mortgage their homes to afford tax increases. We had a tax freeze for seniors a few years ago that was eliminated. That was before I was a senior and now, more than ever, seniors could use a tax freeze. But in reality, freezing taxes on seniors would only shift the burden to my children. What we need is common sense leadership spending our tax dollars.
