This year has been weird. Missed making the Olympic marathon team☑️ broken tibia☑️ world shut down☑️ converted mile PR (4:31)☑️ 5000m PR (15:11)☑️ and last night capped off the season with a 10,000m PR (31:07)☑️ 7th fastest ever by an American! Onward...to fast times & races
Anyone who has seen
@aliphinetuliamu
work over these last few months knows that today is not a surprise! She deserves everything she has coming and I couldn’t be more proud of her,
@Steph_Rothstein
and the rest of my amazing teammates. We did it guys!

One of the best guys I know is fighting hard for his life. He gives all of himself to everyone he meets. Please send him prayers for healing. His beautiful family needs him
16:38 first 5k and 15:24 second 5k (for reference my PR is 15:19) for a close 3rd place in the 10k at the

Track and Field Championships. It may not have been the world standard but I'm still proud of how I raced. On to the next (5000 on Sunday)🏃♀️
Well...that was the hardest marathon I've ever done. The legs were a mess and I didn't feel good for most of the race BUT I was able to grind it out to a 4th place 2:26:27 at

. Nothing glamorous but sometimes you have to be proud of the effort regardless
Sometimes all it takes is an opportunity, a great company (
@HOKAONEONE
) ...team (
@NAZ_Elite
) and family/friends supporting you, to have 'A DAY'. I think I did just that. 2:24:29 for the win at
@GrandmasMara
and new event record. Thank you all for the support and belief ❤
I just did my first run since the trials! First run in 8wks! First run since January that didn’t hurt! It felt really...weird. Unnatural but at the same time was so incredibly amazing!
Stress fx shortened training to 5 weeks. Today was not amazing. It wasn’t a “dream” race. It wasn’t a surprise. It certainly was nowhere near my best. It wasn’t a lot of things but it was the best I had today. I am proud of my effort and my teammates efforts. We’ll be back
Taking in a 1 & 2yr old during a national emergency? Eh why not? The whole world is going crazy but the Taylor household has been crazy for quite some time
A very complex issue but it should be noted that Caster handles herself with far more class than most would in this situation. Nothing but respect for her
Double Olympic champion Caster Semenya won her last 800 metres race today before the introduction of controversial rules limiting testosterone levels in female athletes. This is what she had to say after the race.
What a class athlete.
My first (only)

was in 2018 ⛈🥶 My life’s one and only DNF. It took YEARS to get over BUT I’m back and I’ve got something to prove on the streets of Boston! Amazing field! Looking forward to the return

I have this "problem" where I run a marathon, finish, feel like my body will be completely wrecked but wake up the days after and feel like I did nothing. Sometimes you just WANT to feel the pain to know that it was all left out there on the race course. 🤔 Anyone else?
We love you
@tommy_rivs
you inspire so many and I thought of you and your attitude all day. Especially during the race. So incredibly proud of you and all that you do. You are in fact a super human. As long as you’re still moving you’re still here *on repeat ❤️
Coming out of the haze that was known as the Olympic trials. Finally home. Finally facing reality. A million things I could say about the day...excuses or how I think it could’ve or should’ve went but that won’t change the result. Ready to move on and set my sights on the track.
I have trained many many miles with
@Steph_Rothstein
& the races sometimes go in favor of me and other times her. Today it was neither. Going down the last straight I couldn’t help but smile as I battled someone I respect and admire a great deal. That was the most fun I had today
For me running is simple. I want to know how deep into the pain cave I can go and come out alive. I want to test every limit possible. Good has never been good enough because I think there is always better. My advice...Stay hungry. Stay humble. Don't put a cap on your potential
My hopes for all of the foster kiddos we’ve had...They are safe, happy, cared for & somehow know we think of them often. They are too young to understand our last goodbye, the magnitude of never seeing someone again, but not a day goes by that I don’t think of every single one😔
On my run today my dad was my water aid 🙌 He heard my shoes and said “those have a lot of cushion!” I had to tell him that yes they do in fact but this loud obnoxious sound you are hearing is not cushion but soaking wet shoes from profusely sweating for ALL 19 miles of my run 😵
Today my daughter officially finished 4th grade. She learned a lot of things this year but I think the most important thing she learned was how to make french press coffee. A skill that she will likely use every day in her adult life 😂🙌
1st 5000 since the final of the 2016 olympic trials. Had a blast and ran a new PR 15:19, US and Worlds qualifier! Didn't have it the last 800 🤷♀️ but gained some hope for these old marathon legs. On to the next!
Prayers for my husband. He’s not sick or anything but is taking TWO newborns a 3 yr old and an 11yr old on a trip to Phoenix while I have a workout 😱😱😱 Thankful for that guy ❤️
@KyleLTaylor
Filled a wine glass silly full because I had a day. A 14mile morning, single parent day with 6😱😱😱 😱😱😱kids and then a 6mile treadmill night. First time all day that I’ve had a second to myself. Major props to single/working parents!
After catching a stomach virus last weekend and missing Chicago Half, I am thrilled to be able to run the US 10 mile champs. Plan B races have treated me well in Minnesota 😉
UPDATE: After being forced to withdraw from the Chicago Half last weekend,
@kellyn_taylor
is back to 100% health and will run the

15 x mi this morning followed by a breakdown half mi into the cool down. Our kids left early this am after a very short notice. One we had had most of his young life & the other was adjusted, happy & growing. Thankful for a group hug &❤️ from
@Steph_Rothstein
&
@aliphinetuliamu
This morning as I packed up Lego pieces (my pre race entertainment) and put them into a bag it felt fitting. Like I was gathering the broken pieces of me and putting them, not necessarily together, but back where they belong so that I can carry on when the time is right
Take aways from my first few days back running; cardiovascularly feel fine. Mechanically it feels foreign. I am very sore 😐 I am happy to be back and appreciate the support 😊
One foster baby in the hospital with RSV for the last few days...one comes down with a high fever...still a 9 yr old that needs taken care of 😱 Thankful for good friends!
@Steph_Rothstein
is a rockstar who chose to help without being asked. Truly just a great human❤️
Use workouts as an opportunity to get stronger...Not only physically but mentally. If you doubt yourself in practice you will probably doubt yourself on race day. Be confident in the work you've put in and BELIEVE anything is possible
#WednesdayWisdom
Talking to a kid at middle sch xc meet. (Kid) How far do you run? (Me) 16 miles today but as much as 30. She promptly said well there goes my professional running career! Helping derail kids dreams one day at a time over here 😂 For real though, we all started in the same spot
The goal today was for
@Steph_Rothstein
& I to go out & run marathon effort for a bunch of miles & then crank it down the last 4. With the pacing of
@bbjamin
we did just that. 🏃🏼♀️🥇🏃🏻♀️🥇 esp fun to do the fist bump & tie at the finish. Another successful day/wk in the marathon bank
Just finished the 6 core weeks of our marathon segment. 742 miles have been run. 123.6 mi/wk avg.(highest 130...multiple times😵) 17.6 mi/day avg. (Longest 26.2 shortest 14) Zero days off. Tomorrow is the last hard effort

2015 went to US XC championships 2 weeks after my marathon debut...placed 8th, missed world team by 2 spots. 2017 placed 3rd but deferred my worlds spot in order to prep for London marathon. Tomorrow I'm hoping to earn a top 6 finish and accept a world team spot. Let's do this!
Heartbroken. Disappointed. Defeated. Just a few words to describe today. I wonder if I just wasn't tough enough to weather the storm but in my heart of hearts I knew I was going downhill quickly. I've never been that cold(I have ran in -30° windchill). I live to fight another day
Running break:
expectation “I’m going to get so much done this week!”
Reality “I’m going to write a nice list. Look at it each day. Get one maybe two things done. Watch a show or five. Play with the dogs. Drink too much coffee. Drink too much in general. Sleep & repeat 🤷🏼♀️
The fun thing about our sport is that there is always another opportunity. Another chance to prove yourself...to test your fitness. I value every time I'm able to line up and race. It's sometimes not the races themselves but the journey as an entirety that matter...
Got a call from Kylyns teacher today. Apparently she called a kid a jerk. Said kid was bullying another kid thus being a “jerk”. I am immensely proud of her for being a good human and standing up for someone else. That’s how the world should work...take care of one another.
This all makes so much sense now! I’m kidding we’ve known for a while. As great of a runner that
@AliphineT
is she is going to be an even more amazing mother! So excited for this next journey of yours and for your ‘mini me’ to join you in Tokyo!
5000 pre ✅ 5000 final ❌ I have been running for 4 wks. A really badly timed stress fx put me out 7wks. The 5k was meant to be a rust buster✅ To say Im grateful to be here would be an understatement. It hasn’t been the buildup I dreamed about but I’m here & ready for that 10000
On to the 5,000m final for
@HotPaquettes
!!
Update:
@kellyn_taylor
also made it through but will scratch the final in order to prepare for the 10,000m final on Saturday.
Thanks for all the cheers!!
i don’t know how to sew but I’m about to learn. I ordered a sewing machine and I’m going to make some face masks to donate. It will also be a part of Kylyns home school curriculum
100% over this week. Roughly 100 miles, sub par workouts, sick kiddo in the hospital since Wed (no end in sight), another sick kid (getting better), happy but bored 9 yr old, not being in the same room as all of my ppl since Wed. 🥱😵😱😑💩 Fortunately, nothing lasts forever
Joyful is how I’ll remember you best ❤️ Riley loved her people and her babies more than anything. We brought her home from the vet last night and she let us know she was ready…on her own terms in her dog bed with me by her side. So grateful to her for giving us a good life
At last my week at USAs has come to a close. The 5000 was fun until I realized I had no extra gears to kick into the last 800m🤷♀️ still a great experience. Thanks for all of the support this week. Much appreciated! On to the fall marathon season!!!
Had a rough one today but was in good company. Finished 2nd to Boston boss
@des_linden
Got me looking at my year...8 races. FIVE 2nd places, one 1st, one DNF and one that might as well have been. I guess I'm at least consistent but winning is really fun too
Nine. Nine kids in a year, with a two month break. Our last placement of 5 months left less than a week ago and we have already been flooded with referrals for new kids. We aren’t quite ready so we reluctantly have said no. (1/2)
Oh my gosh. This is so powerful and important. My heart hurts for
@runmarycain
and the fact that she had to go through this. Thank you for being brave enough to share your story. I wish you nothing but the best in all that you do ❤
This was a long time coming. For years, I felt broken and alone- I waited, yet no one reach out to help.
Now I am ok. But the system isn’t. And I can’t stay silent.
This was hard to share, so thanks
@lindsaycrouse
&
@nytimes
for all your support. ❤️
@des_linden
No doubt! You had me going 🤔 BUT that's how great things happen. Amazingly brave run out there! You really could've died just a little more and helped me out 😂
#kidding
you earned it
Teaching Ky bike safety but I forget some ppl just don’t give a f. At the cross walk, off of our bikes, ready to cross. Truck rolls up to stop sign. Does the micro stop and goes. Sees us. Doesn’t care. DOES care when I call him an asshole. Yes, really dude...you were an asshole
3 wks later and I’m still inspired/moved by
@tommy_rivs
THIS GUY! He’s absolutely incredible & if I weren’t so socially/virtually awkward I may be able to better articulate. I hope he (you-rivers) know how often I think of u and your selflessness (often in the midst of a race 😳)
Today was fun. Not necessarily sweating profusely or the impossibly hard course 😂 but just being back out there. Competing. Putting myself in it. Betting on and believing in myself. Have good people in your corner but always be your biggest cheerleader. USA 7 mile champ!
#bix7
After no base training (literally did a workout 3 days after starting running pre trials ~4wks from 5k prelim) I am enjoying JUST running. No fancy workouts. No pressure. Just me, my thoughts and the road ahead ❤️
I've been very fortunate to have avoided injury as a pro runner. Currently dealing with a 'speed bump' of an injury. I have mad respect for people who are injury prone. X training sucks. Theres nothing pretty about it but the light at the end of the tunnel keeps you in pursuit
Guys, I have had to pay close to if not over 10,000$ with health insurance (who I’m sure were also charged boatloads of $) for an uncomplicated birth with a 24hr hospital stay. How is this not a crisis? How are we ok with letting this happen?
Ran a 5k time trial (16:05) in camp verde this am. I dont have a picture of myself from it but here's how hard
@scottfaubs
(14:08) had to work to pass me...
48hrs into having 2 boys under 3 and the most amazing and helpful 8yr old...called them by the wrong names for a solid 20hrs 😳, looked in the mirror once yest (car reflection) & scared myself 😱, ate one actual meal both days, ran 30mi, smiled, laughed and already fell in love❤
UPDATE on our friend

Life is much about who you surround yourself with. Surround yourself with morally just people. When I walk away from this sport I can do so with a clear conscience in the fact the I myself did things right and the people around me did as well. (2/2)
So incredibly proud of teammate
@scott_n_ready
6th and of course
@des_linden
who finally got her W! What a great day for so many. Enjoy your moments. You fought hard & deserve it. If it wasn't your day realize that it happens. Some things aren't in your control. On to the next!
Anyone who says non dairy cheese is "just as good as the real thing" or "it's good" is lying. Its terrible...all of it. Someone who will lie about cheese will lie about anything. Choose your friends wisely
Twitter heavy tonight…we have had 12 different kids (some more than once so 13/14ttl) in our 2.5yrs of fostering. Looking bk @ pics my heart breaks over & over & over again. We’re not perfect but the discomfort I feel for some of our kids is unnerving. This system NEEDS WORK!
Went camping & was completely detached from the world for over two days…it was amazing. Came back up to cell service this am just in time to see the womens results come in. Proud of
@Steph_Rothstein
for another amazing performance in her career

Thanks 😊 But Steph ran 20 miles of this and crushed it! Thankful to be able to still train with my forever (since 2011!) teammate. The grit finale is going to be a good one…
She would never put this out herself but this morning
@kellyn_taylor
ran 8 miles alternating 5:40/6:30 at 7000ft, 5 months pregnant. So yeah she’s gonna kick everyone’s butt when she comes back after having a baby next year and years to come!

planned on racing the Monterey Bay Half this morning. Due to the fires & air quality the race was canceled. We chatted last night & she said she’d like to race in

half tonight.
She flew here this morning & just won in a new PR 1:10:14.

I'm convinced that run breaks are 50% out of necessity and 50% to keep you hungry. Your body and mind need the reset but I am always wanting to run while on one.

Foster care. DCS. CPS. This is a crisis. A silent one; where the kids have no voice and the system they are put in is heavily flawed. Where one can’t seem to do enough to navigate the system put before them. Resources lacking. Support limited. Homes minimal. Change is needed. 😔
Lesson of the day: Dont judge a workout by its cover...or the first rep. Workout was 4mi tempo @ 5:30, 10mi moderate pace @ 6:20, 4mi tempo @ 5:30 or faster) I felt like garbage during our first 4 mi tempo. Felt just ok during the 10mi portion and felt good the last 4mi tempo 🤷♀️
