I am so moved by this recent painting. It was done by my son, Paul Rebar, from a Kodachrome slide that my grandfather took late on a winter day, 1959. Paul has captured our arrival, after a long drive, but oh, so much more. He calls it, The Studebaker.

This was the day after his father died. He was walking while looking down, until a bird's song caught his attention. When did all this happen, he said. He meant that life had carried on, he meant the green magic. What got me was that he took off his hat, that gesture.
