so if you want to *use* AI coding agents and not be replaced by them, im hiring 😉 if you are a senior/staff+ engineer, how much time do you think you have left before AI catches up to you? even if it doesn’t, what’s it going to do to your tc when the market is flooded with engineers who didn’t make the cut? if your endgame is to simply upskill yourself to manage AI agents when your company decides to use them, why wait? And it’s a favorable asymmetric risk for you because if im just wrong about all this (adoption is slow / AI doesn’t get that good / FAANGs decide that they need to hire even more), then you shouldn’t have a problem finding another job later. 🤷‍♂️

🚨ZUCK: "Probably in 2025, Meta, as well as other companies, will have an AI that can effectively be a mid-level engineer that you have at your company that can write code. In the beginning that will be very expensive to run, then at some point a lot of the code we have in our apps will be built by AI engineers instead of people engineers. In my opinion that will augment the people working on it. My view is that in the future people will be so much more creative and freed up to do crazy things."

@aviel actually, I take back everything and think that foundations should be an NGO for affordable office space for low-income startup founders.

saw that Seattle Housing Authority was one of the biggest recipients of govt funding in Seattle to the tune of $300M in 2025. their directors are all making $200-300K, and they’re trying to create and subsidize low income housing in a hcol area, which seems like it would artificially create demand and constrain supply. not saying that a single NGO can influence the housing market that much, but it doesn’t make any economic sense.

I think $NET is really well positioned as a super scalable and affordable cloud software with a good dev experience. some of their technology is very innovative, and I think that startups will reach for CF more as a platform to build agents. Specifically with durable objects and workflows. idk if anyone is working on anything quite like it.

. @threepointone or @KentonVarda can you describe more how you use migrations on Durable Objects in production settings please? Specifically, it seems like a flaw that if you work in a collaborative environment, one person could add/modify/delete a Durable Object in a staging env, and now that staging env is unusable to everyone else until they pull in those migrations.

first time visiting delhi, and the chaos is incredible. one of my friends hooked us up with a driver, and that has made our trip much better. i heard uber is safe, but safe is… pretty relative. it’s funny how the traffic lanes seem to be purely decorative. on the same road, i saw a motorbike with three people, a three wheeled car, a Rolls Royce, and this dude just pedaling hard on a bicycle. got some advice about only drinking bottled water and avoiding uncooked foods, so no food/stomach issues so far and getting to enjoy great Indian cuisine.

probably deeply misunderstanding how cursor works, but one thing that never really worked for me with composer is that it's hard to see diffs across multiple files. imo, github has already solved this. rather than handing over control to cursor and potentially causing unintended changes, i'd rather use composer like i use devin -- just kick off a task and code review in github later.

"A team including current and former employees of Musk assumed command of OPM on Jan. 20, the day Trump took office. They have moved sofa beds onto the fifth floor of the agency's headquarters, which contains the director's office and can only be accessed with a security badge or a security escort, one of the OPM employees said.... The sofa beds have been installed so the team can work around the clock, the employee said." RTRS

see, now o3-mini comes out with more competitive pricing, and people will get over their deepseek/llama/mistral hype in a few days. I’m glad that competition exists, obviously, but the only model that matters is the best model

don’t see what’s the big deal with deepseek yet building LLMs was obviously a race to the bottom, and so far, only OpenAI has been consistently top dog. you can probably get marginally better results from switching providers, but if they don’t consistently stay in the lead, it’s not worth it. remember when mistral was relevant? if deepseek can maintain their lead after all the American companies reimplement their models on better hardware, then I’ll be impressed
