Carbon dioxide is giving Earth a jolt! Did you know there’s about 400 parts per million (ppm) of caffeine in coffee? There's over 400 ppm of CO₂ in our atmosphere today. If you've felt the surge of caffeine hitting your system, you've experienced the effects of just 400 ppm.

Today in Bozeman we smashed the record high temp by 7 degrees. It was 21 degrees hotter than the 30-year average for today. Fires are erupting around the state. First responders injured. Crops stressed. People stressed. This is climate change. And we're still making it worse.

Some math: US imports 500,000 barrels of Russian oil per day. That sounds like a lot, but we use 20,600,000 barrels/day. Russian imports are only 2.4% of our consumption. Do we really need new leases and pipelines to make up such a small difference? #AmericanInnovation

I voted against Rep. Haaland's confirmation to @Interior because I cannot support her hostile record toward made in America energy, natural resource development, and wildlife and land management.

Today's satellite view from NASA showing Elmo fire and 2 in Idaho. This is from the Aqua satellite. The orange dots are thermal anomalies - hotspots. One of my NASA jobs is to watch imagery of fires and other Earth happenings and describe the events. Fun to watch this planet.

@SteveDaines @JoeBiden When I think of Montana energy jobs, I think of how we have only 86 jobs in wind energy despite having a world class wind resource. I think of the $85K median salary in wind energy. And then I think of the reason Montana has been left behind: because of people like Steve Daines.

@SteveDaines @JoeBiden Montana wind is a huge energy source. Yet we rank 48th out of the 50 states for wind jobs. We're delivering far below our potential. Can you remind us what *you've* done to help Montana 'unleash' more of this safe, local, and clean source of energy?

@SteveDaines Indeed, to ignore science is detrimental. It's lovely to hear you say that. With that in mind, I'd love to talk about climate change, energy, water resources, wildfires, & wildlife. There's tons of great science that you may have missed. Looking forward to helping you catch up!

@SteveDaines @JoeBiden There is no logic behind this statement, despite the all caps. KXL would import heavy oil from Canada. It makes the US *more* dependent on foreign oil imports. It would add less than 1% to the oil we already consume. The US already has the ability to ramp up our own production.

Yet another map showing Montana left behind. This one shows new manufacturing projects related to cleaner energy. Not a single one here. MT has decided to avoid modern energy, which means we lose out on jobs, innovation, training opportunities, and relevance. Sad to see it.

America's manufacturing boom is due largely to Biden and Democrats' three big bills: the BIL, CHIPs, and IRA. These bills incentivize companies to build factories and make everything from semiconductors (chips) to EV batteries to solar panels.

Northwestern Energy uses the cold snap as a plea to build more fossil fuels, but <shockingly> leaves out the part where Colstrip ran at half speed for ~6 days. Also left out: Major gas hub in Washington failed, too. #energytwitter

Montana taxpayers: We're paying $30,000 plus $400 per hour (allegedly) to hire a professional climate denier for the upcoming court case about climate change.

@SheehyforMT We're all learning things about Tim. Now we know he'll happily repeat fantastical conspiracy theories that he prob knows are false - all for a shot at the Senate. A willingness to lie for the GOP was Daines' litmus test for his chosen candidate. Tim passed. MT deserves better.

I know there's no shortage of bad news these days. But take a moment to consider how far we've come with public support for climate solutions. This is incredibly good news, and it's why the US finally is making strides on climate policy. Let's keep going!

"Your" bill. Seriously? The bill was written by Jon Tester. You weren't even on the original list of co-sponsors. You got around to co-sponsoring 4 months later. Ultimately more than half the Senate co-sponsored it. What part of this is "yours"? How did you "fight" for it?

@GovGianforte Montana is 35th out of 50 when it comes to vaccines. We even got money from the American Rescue Plan to help with vaccine outreach. The money was never spent. People died. Schools closed, economy hobbled. Health care workers beyond exhausted. An utter failure of leadership.

@SteveDaines @JoeBiden This Montanan wants to let you know that @JoeBiden is giving me exactly what I voted for and I'm thrilled. Montana is blessed with abundant clean energy resources. ND has 20 times the wind jobs that MT has. Why can't MT do that? Apparently ND has better leadership?

@aaronflint This country WAS attacked. On Jan 6, remember? The so-called 'liberty' movement did the attacking. Trump cheered on from a safe location. A few brave members of the GOP stood up to defend the Constitution, and they got censured for it. The rest were too weak to stand up.

@ATrueMTWoman This is sexist language. When a man does it, he's strong and confident. When women do it, we're having a hissy fit. We're tired of the hypocrisy. Honestly, I freaking *love* that photo. Tranel's willingness to assert herself is a huge appeal to me. Plus she's smart as heck!

@ScottGarbien @GovGianforte @USDA Welcome to Montana, Scott! Nice of you to suggest we should all be ignored. Way to be a good neighbor! Ignoring climate change isn't conservative - it's just bad policy. The Gov is begging for Fed money, while he won't collaborate on climate solutions. How is that conservative?

@GovGianforte The mask recommendations have changed *because* the data changed. That's science. If we picked a stance and stuck to it, regardless of what the evidence showed, that's doctrine. Get everyone vaccinated and masks become largely irrelevant. We have an easy, data-driven answer.

@SteveDaines @realDonaldTrump I love how hundreds of random people are explaining this to you, over and over. It's almost as if it's common knowledge that your grievance is total nonsense. It would be so neat if, as a Senator, you understood this important issue as well as the general public does.
