@mrdardy What about “y per x”? It establishes the meaning of slope as a rate.

Silicon Valley has done a lot of good (Netscape included). Reasonable for Marc to be frustrated w/ blindness to this. Yet can Andreessen et al see *any* negative consequences of FB, IG, X, AI, etc? For me, that’s where seriousness bottoms out. (BTW, bravo analogy to nuclear.)

Just read in WSJ that China’s newest submarine sank. So…it works?

@British_Airways Good afternoon. I booked a flight last week from US to Italy. Price was ~$1300. Yesterday, same itinerary $550. When I called customer service about price adjustment, they said no. Only offered to cancel ticket and issue $83 refund. (!!) Seems odd. Can you help?

@stevenstrogatz @benjamindickman @prxofficial @QuantaMagazine @citizen_math Clearly my one-tweet-per-blue-moon marketing strategy won’t be taught in business school. Even my Radiolab sparring partner is unfamiliar with our work. So much for case study fame.

@navsaleh …if what’s on the other side of the door of dualistic rationality is indeed a reality where everything morphs into a ball of oneness, then I suspect (and that’s at I have: a belief) it would be so beautiful, so awe-inspiring that one couldn’t help but be overwhelmed by hope/joy.

@navsaleh I suppose anyone could use anything to justify nihilism. But when it comes to div x zero — and more broadly, the possibility of a reality characterized by all-is-one-ness — I see it as the exact opposite of nihilism.

@MrsStrole @citizen_math That’s a great looking office! Classy paint color. Almost as opaque as Domino’s pricing. :)

@mrdardy @bobloch Probably depends on what you’re doing with the surface. Calculating paper cost (for some given thickness)? One side would suffice. Estimating coating for food safety/preservation reasons? Assume both sides. “Open-top box” isn’t an abstract shape. Use-case determines answer.

@ddmeyer Here, here. @Trianglemancsd is one of the most thoughtful educators I’ve ever met. I cannot recall an instance where he offered a thought that was anything less than brilliantly baked. Math ed is better for him. I am grateful to have overlapped with him. Godspeed, Christopher!
