@WalterM59300873 @TrekBookClub Create and write a better character than Cabot, and make the admirals less cartoonish bad guys, for a start. Unfortunate they didn't feel realistic.

@TrekBookClub @lisatsunami I thought the same thing after recently reading his Rogue Saucer novel - it was decent and enjoyable. Honestly not sure what happened here but unfortunately a lot of it didn't work for me - redeemed mainly by how it sets other things in motion in the series.

@OzTrekkie @TrekBookClub I keep trying to think of ways this could have been written to be more believable. It really strained credulity, unfortunately.

@TrekBookClub I really, really enjoy SNW & Lower Decks. But for me there can be no other answer than Picard S3. Just absolutely brilliant - such a deservedly satisfying return for TNG, plus outstanding old (Seven, Ro, Raffi) & new (Jack, Shaw) characters, in a great story. #trekbookclub

@TrekBookClub That's why I've been writing some 😊 Thank goodness for fanfic. I definitely agree, though. With economy of storytelling space & size of the ensemble, after the first 4 eps or so, Beverly's role was reduced - she still played a key role in but not quite as much. #trekbookclub

@TrekBookClub @petertrek1 You know, I suppose it's not uncommon in Trek to have people fall deeply in love in a single episode & be willing to leave it all behind for the other! But at least on screen there's a chance for there to be visible chemistry. The writing didn't quite sell it here. #trekbookclub

@TrekBookClub @lisatsunami 100%. I was really put off by "JL" at first - it took time to get used to. I had to accept Raffi had known him a long time, too, we just hadn't gotten to see it. Colleen Cabot had no history with Picard & it never sat right the way she addressed him in these books. #trekbookclub

@TrekBookClub Based on what we got in S3, I imagine it must have been hurtful to Beverly to hear Picard say repeatedly he didn't want to be a father - despite how he'd been with Wesley. She'd always trusted him with Wesley but felt she couldn't with Jack bc of what he said (and the danger).
