@JArcher100 @tomgoom What exactly do I query? I can’t speak for what the GP knows, but it’s worth considering that healthcare tends to see those who need help, not the many who are doing just fine. That perspective can shape our understanding—something to reflect on!

@JArcher100 @tomgoom Are you assuming you know what the GP will do with the info? The literature suggests it’s not harmful for most, rather than protective. Do you understand how evidence informed practice works? I struggle to understand your “logic”. Is there something further you need ?

@JArcher100 @tomgoom Another assumption Jenny! At no point has anyone suggested that. Where do these assumptions come from? Do you understand how evidence informed practice works? I understand training may have been different 50y ago. No need to worry - funnel that energy into your own development!

@JArcher100 @tomgoom Still going Jenny? I thought you said this debate was over? The GP didn’t have a question. They believed running is harmful for hips. I asked for evidence that suggested running is joint protective. I was provided with literature suggesting it’s not harmful. Goal achieved! 👋🏻

@GregLehman @NickIlic_Physio That was meant to be a response to your post - hopefully you picked up on that! 😅
@GregLehman @k8purcellphysio Gregs right on how to frame it that way these days. I borrow the knee OA clinical care standard for the hips, selling the systemic effects of exercise rather than joint-specific effects, where there is no evidence to suggest it's problematic for the joint.

@GregLehman @NickIlic_Physio Agree Greg - not harmful for most, rather than protective, is what I’ve gathered from the literature offered.

@JArcher100 @tomgoom @_lewadam Overtraining sounds like the problem there, not running. There’s a lot we could say about not extrapolating 1 case to the masses, but we won’t, as you said, this debate is over. Thanks for an eye opening/watering debate Jenny!

@NickIlic_Physio Thanks Nick, is this is the study that the JOSPT patient friendly summary refers to? All useful stuff - appreciate it!
@k8purcellphysio @tomgoom Not an infographic (most of the ones I’ve seen focus on knee OA) but summary of a good paper

@JArcher100 @tomgoom @_lewadam Must be just me then! Could you explain to me in plain physio English (though maybe just plain English - I seem to be struggling with the physiotherapy language) the physiological knowledge of bubbling femurs? I’d appreciate it

@JArcher100 @tomgoom @_lewadam Yes unfortunately I struggle with the grammatical structure of some of your posts - doesn’t always come across as plain English to me! Nothing personal about that - it might reflect my inability to interpret what you’re meaning. It’s challenging to communicate with limited words!

@JArcher100 @tomgoom @_lewadam If we can support people to create optimal environments to expand their abilities, that is supported by evidence that suggests it’s at least not harmful for most, wouldn’t that be much more empowering, rather than limiting them?

@JArcher100 @_lewadam @tomgoom No I haven’t forgotten, thanks Jenny! I got a bit bamboozled by your grammar, but yes, I got what I needed from @tomgoom and @MPearsonPO, cheers!

@JArcher100 @_lewadam @tomgoom I’m confused 🫣 I struggle to understand your points. Who has to tell the GP what?

@JArcher100 @_lewadam @tomgoom *she, and she wasn’t looking at injuries. Just a general perception that running is harmful for hips, which as we now know, the evidence doesn’t seem to support for most people.

@BillingMartin @Absolute80s @bushontheradio @RichieFirth You should put actual bite marks on it, then no one will go near it and you’ll get to take it home again

@JArcher100 @_lewadam @tomgoom Some cases may need specific Mx, but a blanket approach to limiting running doesn’t feel very person-centred. Maybe it’s just hard to convey what you mean in short posts?
