Re hospitality VAT cut: if you go out to eat and spend £25 on food it could save you just under £3. If the restaurant chose not to pass on the cut, it could save the restaurant and the jobs of everyone who works there.

General info: if you are a non-chef and are ever cooking for a chef, never, ever apologise for your perceived culinary shortcomings. It's amazing to be cooked for and we are a generally very easy to please bunch.

It's almost as if the government has absolutely no idea how pubs and restaurants actually function. Bookings. Staff rotas. Landlords & rent. Stock management & rotation. Suppliers & credit. And lots of fucking hard work. My heart goes out to friends and colleagues now in T3.

The profit margin in a restaurant can be as low as 7-8% of turnover. Perspective: a table of four no-showing at a 50 cover restaurant makes it likely the restaurant will make no money. Quite simply no showing kills businesses.

I'm with @NigelSlater on this one. This would cripple small, independent owned businesses. I changed my menu daily. What's more the calorie is a terribly inaccurate metric by which to decide what, or how much to eat. The whole plan is bonkers.

2) Only they were invited to relax in the open air (an enclosed garden) and would not have increased the risk of contagion 3) No outside guests were invited at all 4) These people had worked incredibly hard on all our behalves on the vaccine programme etc.

There are many reasons I love my job, here is one: on Friday afternoon I made a test batch of gluten free doughnut mix. On Friday evening I was able to cook a doughnut for a coeliac who hadn’t eaten one for 16 years.

Two weeks ago I thought it would a be a fun idea to run the #virtuallondonmarathon with @Smadz_ - Today we did it. I was about 50% right and 50% very, very wrong. Key takeaways: 42.2km is really far and two weeks isn't long enough to train.

There is plenty of support for growing more of our own food. Tell your local supermarket we want more U.K. produce. I am pressing the government to get behind our farmers and fishing industry. Not much choice of U.K. cheeses, fruit and veg in some shops.

@tom_watson Congratulations, this is brilliant. Quite simply, I would make learning to cook mandatory for all children of school age. Education should be about learning skills to cope with life. We all need to eat. Learning to cook properly is a fundamental life skill
