#OTD in 1944, the Germans gave orders to evacuate Caen. The city was liberated but only in part: the enemy still held the southern sector on the other side of the Orne River. 🍁 Canadian losses during this operation amounted to 330 men killed and 864 wounded, more than on D-Day.
