Private sector workers in America are used to layoffs. 20+ million of them a year. Public sector workers simply aren't. And that's why DOGE's actions and statements are so shocking to them.

@LohmuseP You’re proving my point. The economics literature is full of studies and meta-analyses from multiple countries showing that immigration -> more demand for housing -> higher housing and rental costs. But all we hear about is feared construction worker shortages.
