I have just concluded my first season covering #USC Football for The @SportingTrib. The season has been four months of been learning and testing new waters. It has taken me from the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena to the cold breeze of Minnesota, covering a Top-25 upset by the Gophers. With the culmination of the 2024 season, I wanted to share my ten favorite bylines for the Tribune. Thank you to @ArashMarkazi for the opportunity.

I love to see Riley and #USC emphasis on recruiting instate. They finally got the message, building from within.
USC has the nation's No. 2 class in 2026 and is looking to flip some top targets it hosted this weekend, @SWiltfong_ reports👀 Read:

#Lakers had tried with AD, but he just couldn’t be face before/after LeBron retire. Luka, on the other hand, gives LA something to look beyond the years of LBJ. He will take the golden throne + kept shooters around: Reaves / Knecht. A+ Trade

#USC got a real one in Alijah. However, I do think his game will take a sometime to adjust to the college level. He is a fantastic three-level scorer, but has not had to play off-ball in many situations. The talent is certainly there, and with Musselman’s help he will be on NBA court one day.

Jerry is completely losing. And yet, he remains the guy with his finger over the red button.
Jerry Jones on hiring Brian Schottenheimer: *long pause* "In the almost 35 years that I've been involved with the Dallas Cowboys... I've only missed one Senior Bowl. 35 years. And I think I missed one Combine, in 35 years. At the NFL, over the last 4 or 5 years, the NFL we want to come in a day early... so that we can visit with prospective coaches for the future of my team and any other teams. In 35 years I don't think I've ever visited with a coach but what in my heart in mind I wasn't having an interview. I don't think I've ever had a coach visit with me that wasn't prospectively thinking maybe someday our paths might cross..." "I've been around a lot of coaches. As a matter of fact I wanted to be a coach. Except I wanted to live better than I thought coaches lived." He hasn't answered the question at this point in transcribing so idk man

This it it!
We don’t know Brian Schottenheimer will be a failure any more than we know Ben Johnson will be a success. Coaching hires are weird & hard to predict. Few people thought highly of Dan Campbell in 2021 etc etc etc. We do know that it REEKS of bad process to fart around for eight days with a head coach who needs a new contract, fail to retain him after missing an interview window for coveted candidates, bring in two former head coaches who are not in high demand, one outside assistant you already have a relationship with and *then* choose the guy down the hall who a) is not drawing interest elsewhere b) has not been a head coach c) has not called plays for you and d) has had mixed results when he has called an offense in the past. It’s not to say Schottenheimer can’t be a success, or that he’s not a good dude. Just that the process of getting to him feels neither thorough nor inventive, which doesn’t (and shouldn’t) inspire confidence. Especially since the people running this process would have you believe this is a desirable job.

@NFL get on it!!!
Dion Dawkins believes there should be a Lineman of the Year award: “I’m going to make sure this gets done before I’m done playing.” #Bills #BillsMafia

RT @chriscatenacci: When the #Cowboys hire Brian Schottenheimer that should ignite this fanbase into considering a boycott for 2025.

I believe Brown will be a good GM one day. He stood out the most in the #Giants Hard Knocks this off-season.
The Raiders have completed their in-person interview with Giants AGM Brandon Brown for their vacant GM job, source tells @NFLonCBS. This fall, Brown scouted Colorado plenty and gave this impromptu speech to Shedeur Sanders and teammates in Boulder
