My dad was rushed to hospital at 4 this morning. His Parkinson's seems to have taken a turn for the worse. He's 75. Asking my Twitter fam for prayers, good vibes, etc.

My dad has taken another turn for the worse. The ambulance had to come and get him and take him back to hospital. My mother doesn't think he will be coming home.

My old girl isn't herself. We put a heating pad in her bed because she was shivering. She's had hardly anything to eat today and nothing to drink. The vet said there's something on the go with her liver, which might be the very early stages of liver cancer. So we just love her.

It hurts my heart that Lola is getting older. She lost her sight some years ago as a result of her diabetes; now she is nearly deaf. She never hears me coming; every time I touch her, it startles and scares her. It just makes me so very, very sad that she is going away from me.

Update on Dad: he's not doing too great. All 3 of us (me and my sisters) are working to get him some home care. There's a HUGE wait here for long-term care, with few beds available. Please, if you could keep him and us in your thoughts and prayers, we'd appreciate it.

We have decided, with Lola's prompting from beyond the Veil, that our next dog will be a border terrier, a little girl. I love the breed, love their scrappiness and sass, and we so very much want to offer our love to another dog.

Someone - I don't know who - paid for an impression of Lola's foot in clay at the crematorium. I just have to fill out the card and send it in, and the company will kiln-fire it so I will have a permanent reminder of her. People are so kind. Whoever you are, thank you.❤️

Visited my parents today and took Lola with us. I think this was probably her last car trip. She's now too unstable on her legs to ride comfortably. The trip there (2+ hours) and back exhausted her. It's one more thing I have to let go of, and it kills me.

Riley had another big nap on my stomach earlier. I feel about him the way people must feel about their human newborns. I can't bear to be away from him. I love watching him sleep and listening to him breathe. He is absolutely divine.

My mother caught a stomach bug and was rushed to hospital yesterday in an ambulance. She is 75 and has COPD, despite never smoking in her life. We had a good outcome, though: they put her on an IV and gave her some fluids (she was dehydrated) and she feels much better.

Dogs slipped through a gap in our pitifully inadequate fence. I had to run across three other yards, barefoot, to retrieve them, because we live on a very busy street. Every single goddamn nightmare scenario all at once, and so soon after losing Lola. My nerves are shot.
