Although police have not released his name nor the names of the officer or officers who shot him, Mendez’ family spoke with Richmondside at their home Friday and confirmed it was him who was killed. They said that Mendez had been living nearby in a tent at a homeless encampment.

San Pablo police confirmed that Norman is on administrative leave pending an internal investigation into the incident while Teresa has sought legal representation and continues therapy for her injuries. Full story here:

Teresa's jaw was fractured, her cheekbone injured and her chin sliced open. She also had multiple broken teeth. She was sent to Stanford Hospital in East Palo Alto to be seen by doctors who specialize in facial plastic surgery.

The aftermath was chaotic. Video shared w/ Richmondside showed the SPPD vehicle on top of a white Toyota pickup while a horn from one of the vehicles can be heard blaring through the entire incident. Teresa could be seen underneath while neighbors surrounded the wreckage.

Teresa Lopez, a 60-year-old woman who has lived in the area for 20 years, woke up in Marin General Hospital not remembering how she got there. The only thing she remembered was standing outside her home on Alamo Avenue talking to a friend while he sat in his truck.
