It's been 8 years since the original jsPsych paper. This update in JOSS talks about recent developments and what we think the future of the library might look like. And it's nice to finally have @BeckyAGilbert as an author given how much she has contributed to jsPsych!

Professional news: I am excited to announce I will be joining the Cognitive Science department @Vassar in the fall. My decade + at SUNY Purchase has been incredibly rewarding and I will miss my wonderful colleagues and students, but I am thrilled for this next step in my career!

@kurokida1 This isn't supported yet. One security feature is that any write commands that would overwrite data are blocked, to prevent accidental or malicious data loss. Would a tool that could perform the aggregation after be helpful? Or do you need it during data collection?

@D0nShirley Right now it just assigns sequentially. In theory we could record completions and probabilistically assign conditions based on completion rate, and that could be a good future update. But it still won't fully solve the problem if more than one subject can run at the same time.
