Dale Carnegie believed criticism is futile because it puts people on the defensive and usually makes them strive to justify themselves. Criticism is dangerous because it wounds a person’s precious pride, hurts their sense of importance, and arouses resentment.
One of the biggest challenges we have is getting caught in the routine of the day-to-day; that can be draining and suck the life out of a person. But when we take a step back and realize what we can do and achieve, incredible possibilities emerge.
Is listening harder than speaking?
When trying to convince others to agree with them, many people talk too much.
Listen to other people speak first. Ask them questions.
If you disagree with them, you may be tempted to interrupt. But don’t.
