@alden_olms @raefchenery @philvischer Again, surgeries are not the first visit in the transition process and again, if a patient has informed consent they know what they're signing up for post-op, and again, what people choose for their own bodies is not up to you.

@alden_olms @raefchenery @philvischer I have full respect for detransitioners. Most trans folks do. Did you talk to any happy, fulfilled trans folks for your movie? I'm not on the wrong side of safety, psychology, medical care, or history. Trans folks have existed throughout all of history, and they always will.

@ReedUberman @alden_olms @philvischer It's not pedantic when I'm just repeating your own words back to you. And top surgery isn't permanent, you can get breast augmentation to reverse. So no, I won't apologize when you're making wild claims with nothing to back yourself up.

@alden_olms @raefchenery @philvischer I have, and guess what: they made their decisions with informed consent, and de-transitioned with informed consent. That's fine. No one is arguing against that. Your video doesn't change that there's a higher regret rate for knee replacements than for transgender care. π€·ββοΈ

@alden_olms @raefchenery @philvischer Do yourself a favor and look up transgender regret rates. βοΈ

@alden_olms @raefchenery @philvischer Your description is entirely inaccurate, but if it keeps a trans teenager from k*lling themselves, it is the very definition of life saving care. Sorry to hear that you aren't pro life.

@alden_olms @raefchenery @philvischer For someone who claims to be against groomers, you talk a lot about children's breasts. Weird.

@raefchenery @alden_olms @philvischer Except it's not. Most emergency appendectomies can't be done laparoscopically. They involve slicing the stomach open, and potentially leaving an open wound to re-dress over a long period of post-op care. Many gender affirming surgeries are similar, or less invasive.

@raefchenery @alden_olms @philvischer An emergency appendectomy could be described the same way out of context. Projecting your theology onto strangers to dictate what medical care they should or shouldn't have is weird and wicked.

@alden_olms @philvischer Kids drive cars under parental supervision and can get tattoos underage with parental consent, too. Patients are well aware of the lifelong commitment of hormones. That's why, as I said, years of therapy and consultation are involved. This isn't weird.

@ReedUberman @alden_olms @philvischer 16 year old teenagers are not "little girls," so no, I'm not going to apologize for basing my answer off of your inaccurate language. Also, I'd love the link to the study you're cropping out of context.
