"I'm too old to start." Common excuse. Here's my response: Doctors told my mother I would die by the age of two. All children with my disease died young. But medicine improved. Technology improved. And my will to live was stronger than anyone imagined. I'm now 42. Still going strong. All the doctors were wrong. Nobody can predict the future. That includes you. Every time you say you are too old, you are predicting your own death. That's silly. You don't know when you will die. Expect to live forever. But be prepared to die tomorrow. This is the only logical way to live.

I used to think the government could save me. I couldn't buy insurance. And I had $120,000 per year of medical bills. The government offered me Medicaid. For free. At first, I was grateful. I felt like they saved my life. But then they told me I wasn't allowed to work. They garnished my income if I made more than $700. Government auditors watched my bank account. That's when I realized Medicaid wasn't really free. Whenever you become dependent on anyone, they can tell you what to do. Control your life. You give up your freedom. Most people on Medicaid never get off it. I was lucky… it took me only three years to escape. And I learned a valuable lesson: Don't become dependent on anyone unless you're willing to be their slave. Not your family. Not your friends. Certainly not the government. Don't accept handouts. Don't place your hope in others. Don't diminish yourself. Only you can fix things. YOU. Believe in yourself. Build up your strength. Stand on your own two feet. I did. And I'm paralyzed from the neck down. So can you.

@DanielPriestley It's a complicated question. I recommend the YouTube channel Offshore Citizen by @MichaelRosmer. He goes over various countries and their pros and cons, including tax consequences, banking, etc.
