As we celebrate the power of reading and storytelling on World Read Aloud Day on 7th February 2025 the incredible Mrs. Laura Koroma will be reading to the pupils of E.B. Williams Municipal School. Laura Koroma is a dedicated Child Protection and Gender Specialist, currently serving as a Senior Child Protection Officer at The Ministry of Gender and Childrenās Affairs. She has played a key role in shaping policies that protect childrenās rights, including the review of the Child Rights Act of 2007 and the Strategy for Children in Street Situations to support vulnerable children. She is also the National Facilitator for the Childrenās Forum Network (CFN), Sierra Leoneās leading child advocacy organisation, working to prevent and respond to child abuse, particularly against girls. Before her government role, Laura was Project Director at the NGO Pikin Bizness, raising funds and facilitating medical treatment for children with severe health conditions. Beyond her advocacy work, Laura is a passionate entrepreneur and the Creative Director of Hen Nyandei Designs, a clothing and accessories brand. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Sierra Leone and a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management.
