@karpathy @levelsio I used Apple Shortcuts to connect directly via API to Whisper. It is super simple, and works across my iPhone and Mac - just use your own api key. As a bonus it can transcribe VNs from whatsapp.

I tried it and it did work, but it's really odd, it didn't output the full report but only a summary of it. One for you to try, but you have to share the results :). Upload a bunch of interesting source materials and ask Deep Research to do something with them (you figure out what) and tell it not to use external sources (it usually listens). It is very powerful just for reasoning when having access to non public or extra content.
