yes, this has been the choice throughout the war, as i have written, repeatedly. it looks like israel has chosen the latter. a mistake, i think.
Eventually, Israelis will have to choose between the destruction of Hamas or the release of the hostages. I am terribly sorry to say this, and I am heartbroken for the families of the hostages. But, when facing the most difficult decision imaginable, we have to be honest with one another. Hamas will never release every single hostage unless: 1) the IDF withdraws completely from Gaza, and 2) Hamas survives. Israel is trying to balance something impossible here, release as many hostages as possible and still get to remain in Gaza and ensure Hamas doesn't survive. It can work and we could see the release of some hostages, but eventually, that horrific choice between the destruction of Hamas or the release of the hostages will need to be made. No matter what Israelis decide, I am 100% behind them. No other nation in the history of the world has ever faced such choices. Every world leader should be thankful it is not them having to deal with this, and unequivocally support Israel.
