Today we took a day trip over to France - we visited the super cute wine making town of Eguisheim and the city of Colmar at the southern end of the Alsace wine route. It was another spectacular day of cute towns, French food, Alsatian wines, and blue blue skies! 😍

I thought Germany was an advanced technical country yet I'm forced to pay cash in about a 1/3 of my transactions! I feel I have gone back 10 years
Even in supermarkets, 3 in 4 people paying cash.

We have been in Tallinn Estonia for a total of about 5 hours - and wow, what a city!
Gorgeous buildings, impressive fortified walls, car free streets, but also modern buildings, parks, and lots of young people. We feel we are going to enjoy it here.

Kalbarri National Park sits about 500km north of Perth. It is renowned for its spectacular 80km long gorge where the Murchison River has cut deeply through the stunning red sandstone.

Today we went back over to the French side of the border and did a drive through a number of the towns in the Alsace region. It's a unique area that is a blend of German and French, it's very cute!

Today we depart Ireland after a wonderful 5 weeks. We loved the rugged dramatic scenery and wild lush landscapes, and the great fun people.

Very common in the UK. Coming Australia we are used to a washing machine in the laundry, which also has a sink (or two), and cupboards for cleaning stuff. I always find it weird to see washing machines anywhere else.

This afternoon we made it to the mainland of Antarctica 🤩. It was windy, snowy and had a lot of penguins - so the real experience 😂

After 30 days we have completed our Wild Atlantic Way road trip. We started in Derry (Ying's top finger) and just visited Kinsale (Ying's lower finger). We pretty much followed that all the way around and down. Thanks for a great trip

I knew it was big, I was pretty sure the "Grand" wasn't superfluous. But wow, until you see it you don't realise how massive it really is! It is actually very difficult to photograph due to the enormity of it. But I took some shots anyway 😄

Just checked into the hotel at Iguazu Falls. We have been on the go for about 20 hours, so it's beer and steak for lunch before exploring! The pink building on the beer is actually the hotel - lovely classic Portuguese colonial style building.

Wrong Julius, it's actually not that difficult to grasp. If the USA "team" beats the all "teams" from all competing countries in the world then they are World Champions. But, since there are no other countries playing (except nominally Canada) they haven't beaten the world.

😯 We just paid the balance of our Antarctica trip today - and it is the most money we have ever spent on anything (except houses and businesses). We aren't very consumer oriented people - but it's more than we ever spent on a car!! 😅😅

I think we have come to the point in our travels where the big cities don't really do much for us anymore. Too busy, noisy, and dirty. So I think we are really going to need to focus on nature and more out of the way places. How do you feel about big cities?

It's seriously so good being back in Manly (Australia). We used to live here for a few years awhile back - and it is probably our favourite place in the world. Clean, quiet, nature, wildlife, beaches, harbour, cafes, restaurants, and 20 minute ferry ride to the city. Perfection!

Our final day trip in The Netherlands was to the city of Utrecht. By far our favorite city. It had the charms of Amsterdam without being dirty and crazy busy. It's one of those very livable cities.

I've never seen an octopus change colour in real life before today. This one was in a rock pool and didn't like me being there. Watch to the end where it changes to a dark colour to hide in the shadow of a rock. Stunning animal.

I do poke a bit of fun at the weather in Ireland - but the rain and the wind create some spectacular scenery! Jagged cliffs from the pounding waves (wind) and waterfalls and greenery from the rain.

Here is me at the world's largest wine barrel today in Heidelberg Castle. Built in 1751 it holds 200,000 liters of wine and has a dance floor on top! 😁😁

Our last day in Riga required us to return to the restaurant Tails. Incredibly good food, great environment, great service. We had a chat with the chef owner to tell him it's our favorite Baltic / Scandinavian restaurant. He is only 28 😎

So you like grits?
I’ve generally been a bit indifferent to grits in the past - but here in Charleston I have had a few dishes with grits and they have been amazing. They are much creamier than others I’ve had before. This one is shrimp n grits.

Did you know that the Blue Footed Booby incubates eggs by standing on them!? They can send blood down to their feet and warm the eggs. The bluer the feet the healthier the bird - their mating dance has the male lift it's blue feet up and down for the ladies to appreciate 😎

I wonder what it's like to live on a boat in Amsterdam. It has a romantic element to it that I like, but I imagine you have zero privacy, lots of noise, and perpetual damp. In the end, I'd probably stay on one for a few nights for fun but no longer.

Just so nobody can say we are only fair weather hikers, or only show the good stuff 😉. This morning on the volcano trail on La Palma and somewhere to our right is Hoya Negro crater. Apparently it looks amazing 😆

To celebrate the end of the wind and snow and rain we spent a few hours soaking in a geothermal hotpool with spectacular views. We feel rejuvenated now and ready to keep on going!
