In a new publication (online today!) I look at the history of the great estates in London. The underlying land in some neighborhoods like Mayfair, Belgravia, and Chelsea is still largely owned by aristocratic families like the Grosvenors and Cadogans.

There is no way this is right. 8000sqft houses in Mayfair were not 279k in 1999. I wonder if it was a separate basement unit that was reintegrated (or a mews house behind)
