@Farzad_MD yes -you may condition away relevant and important changes! i'm also worried that people may endogenously shift their responses (e.g., may have actually voted for candidate X last time, but report they didn't when surveyed today because they now find X repugnant).

No, a feature of a good poll is to provide independent information about public opinion. A poll isn't a model. It's *data*.

@onceuponA @timothyjlayton yes its that old axiom that "doing nothing is a still a choice." this is a (defensible, even sensible) choice that should have been made far upstream of the election (e.g., in 2022), not 10 days out.
