1977 - “Just over a year ago, this building in Leswin Road, Stoke Newington, would have been a hive of activity — a noisy, busy fire station. Now all is quiet. Following the building of a brand new station around the corner in Stoke Newington Church Street, Leswin Road now lies idle. But maybe not for long. The council are presently looking at the possibility of converting the station for community use. In the next few years Leswin Road fire station could be housing youth clubs, day centres for the elderly and playgroups.”
