@TheRickWilson To be fair, avian influenza was going to drive egg prices up, but I’ll credit the administration with the rest. ;)

@rolliwrites Homecoming day at Marymount, some time in the 60’s. Mom was so proud, the first girl in her family to earn a 4-year degree.

@JoJoFromJerz “Super” fans of course. From the color, I assume he was rooting for the Chiefs…? Oh, well. Next year.

@FullFridge2 @BBCRosAtkins Federal contractors get Federal funds -but would you want those same contractors deciding whether the goods and services received are value-for-money and contract compliant? Not really. That’s the job of the government agency that issued the contract.

@rolliwrites My dad would never talk about his great uncle Francis who “moved west” after WWI to become a wildcat oil driller -but he kept this photo Francis sent from Lubbock. Love is love, I guess.

@justicenow_alan @vyper6actual @elonmusk I would say that a business shouldn’t be taxed on revenue but on profit. So say the small business posts $250k in revenue and had $150k in expenses, got a business deduction of $50k and was taxed 15% on the remaining $50k. Tax=$7.5k

@vyper6actual @elonmusk Something like that, yes. I would also say whatever the final rate, there should be nothing different for capital gains. Income is income.

@elonmusk I’d support a flat tax as long as there was a big enough personal deduction and no other deductions so that the poor wouldn’t have to pay at all. I’d give up my mortgage interest deduction… why should I get a break for owning and a renter has no access to such benefits?

@elonmusk We’ve had the Government Accounting Office since 1921. Actually, the way the USG allocates and spends is pretty transparent for anyone who cares to look. And we have many agencies with fraud detection like the FBI, and others capable of conducting spending AND process audits.

@ghostowlredux @bernardtjoy That’s above my pay grade. I always grew up thinking the miracle was that people heard the apostles in their own native languages, but I can see how it might be interpreted the other way.

@ghostowlredux @bernardtjoy It’s Acts 2, 4-13. The apostles spoke in tongues and many people heard them in their own languages, BUT some (faithless, I suppose) people thought they were just drunk. It’s telling that the gift of speaking in tongues and interpreting tongues are separate gifts. I have neither.
