@MancUrban Just had my meeting with the Chief Inspector. Based on my feedback, she is requesting more resource for parking / road safety enforcement from GM and will be taking onboard learnings from Cheshire to take a more proactive role in getting illegal parking addressed.

@MancUrban It’s mainly because there’s simply a lack of civil enforcement officers. I think Stockport has maybe about 7-8 and probably 1-3 on duty at any one time. I’ve been in contact to report offending hot spots in my ward and they’ve been pretty responsive on the whole.

@danpricelab In my short time being a councillor I’ve found that Neighbourhood Watch groups and resident intel in general is so vital to creating communities safe. Great to see that you’re acting as that bridge between residents and the police Dan, hope you’ve settled in well 👍

If anyone’s interested, if I was the Chancellor this is exactly what I’d be doing 👇👇
One answer would be radical tax reform - for example replacing business rates, stamp duty land tax and council tax with a land value tax. Most people would pay broadly the same tax as before, but those owning valuable land would pay a lot more.
