Huge news today--first FDA-approved gene therapy for an inherited disease. I profiled the couple behind it back in 2009 (with editor @laurahelmuth)

NIH says its All of Us health study is on track to recruit 1 million volunteers in 5-6 years. The bigger worry: keeping them from dropping out. #AllofUs, @allofusresearch

Because of COVID-19, NIH is urging that all large meeting held at NIH or organized by NIH be held virtually by video or postponed or cancelled. That includes study sections, as first reported by @MedResJourno

Good news for AIDS community: Moderna will no longer exclude HIV positive people from its large covid-19 vaccine study. But that's just one company's trial.
Today, we are sharing an important update about our protocol for the Phase 3 COVE Study of mRNA-1273, our vaccine candidate against COVID-19.

Does it matter that 19% of sample so far is from Arizona (2% of US pop) and 59% are women? #AllOfUS.
#allofus is also well-positioned to examine whether differences in health outcomes reflect variable pathogenesis of disease X by group, or if they are largely driven by failings of the health care system in these communities. The policy implications of this would be massive.

Monthly FOIA logs--what a concept! How I wish @NIH did this.
Things I enjoyed about this Tweet (in no particular order): 1) Wonky reg humor = comic gold; 2) I <3 students using mechanisms of govt transparency; 3) I enjoy discovering new (to me) public universities like @letsgopeay; 4) I have an excuse to hum @SpongeBob theme.

@katewbauer @JasonSynaptic @thebyrdlab @Maratosflier From my notes from the June 2018 ACD meeting, NIH is hoping to get to 1100 ESIs this year, up from 1040 in 2017 (so not a huge increase).

That's right--corresponding authors are what bioRxiv gave us. But if you look at coauthors the list would be different--eg 50 for @dalygene
@ClausWilke @EricTopol @jocelynkaiser @erlichya I think the article refers to most preprints as corresponding author.

Yes, NIH says they'll look at intramural too
.@jocelynkaiser Will grant limits affect @IRPatNIH vs @NIHgrants PIs equally? 50% intramural PIs have >$1.2M, yet < 6% extramural PI do.
