These are tricky times but your voice does not need company. If you want to resist don’t burn energy recruiting choirs from those whose ambition drowns out their conscience. No one should silence those who speak. Equally, critics must not harangue those who will choose silence.

@King_Kigs You are right! Uniformed politics is such idiocy.

@King_Kigs And yet those academic pretenders calling them dumb can’t frame the science in terms simple enough to explain the imperative of vaccines to a child let alone a gathering of adults. It’s laughable.

@tgkipkorir @WilliamsRuto @rigathi Lol! Your non-listening knee jerk resort to abuse makes it impossible for you to hear reason. So I leave you to your wild fantasy that anyone who points out the failures of William Ruto is an acolyte of his opponents. It is such a pedestrian and unimaginative response. Pole sana.

@WaMunguti There is one multi-authored piece in ARC journals. I know of no other.

@tgkipkorir @WilliamsRuto Re arrogance: you can have an earned PhD and remain insecure; displaying an endless need to be admired and respected. Grandiosity and its unchecked many outbursts also stems from far more tragic mental afflictions which a PhD, even a legitimate one, cannot cure. Sadly.

@King_Kigs There is a difference between bragging rights and condescending braggadocio. But, sure if the rope is long enough, choose how you hang.

With “Jee Huu Ni Ungwana?”, Leonard Mambo Mbotela did the valuable work of helping fast-urbanizing Kenya come to terms with new social mores in what was often an alienating environment. He did so with a beautiful voice, great wit and gentle chiding.

His Malawian heritage also taught us that there are many ways of being and becoming Kenyan, and mobility, (even when it is born from the dark days of colonial misrule) often meets with assimilation, borrowing and exchange. Mbotela will be missed. Go well, poet and teacher 🕊️🙏🏿

@tgkipkorir The fact that you don’t even know that I do just underlines everything I was saying, and everything that is wrong with your thinking. We holders of legitimate and earned PhDs listen to everyone: “even the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story.” So speak on, please.

@simiyubarasa Yes. His rabid sense of inadequacy is delivering hubris on a scale that will soon be a gift to this our land and nation.

@tony_wachira That said, I feel nothing for my Alma mater because it had no business allowing this brand of chicanery- skullduggery that such an institution should have sniffed out and roundly squashed - to carry one of its highest awards. But here we are, dubious degree and all!

The unhinged self-absorption on display here is one thing. The other equally important thing is the absolute contempt in which he holds all of us - we, the people from whom he gets his mandate; the people he is sworn to serve by tending to their needs and listening to them!
