@maiab Instead of “family movie” as the genre they should be called “childhood horrorcore” because they’re all brutal.

@maiab @kchoudhu Agreed. The “your order shipped” emails from Amazon with no details of what’s in the order are really annoying.

@AdamRackis @jasper_teo Ah, cool, thanks for explaining. I didn’t get that at first, but it makes sense.

@AdamRackis @jasper_teo Maybe I'm still missing something, or have a different stylistic preference, but this is doing the same thing without splitting the type and function definition which feels more ergonomic to me...?

@AdamRackis @jasper_teo Does specifying return types with non-arrow functions achieve a similar outcome? Maybe I misunderstand, but it seems like defining a type for the function signature is the key detail you’re calling out here, right?

@swlkr @apprxlinear Why are you questioning the argument that every twenty times you read your code the experience should be worse so that the one time you look at a diff it’s a little better?

I’ve built an assistant-based flow with OpenAI using threads, messages, and runs and have been hoping that gpt-4o-mini would be faster than gpt-4o, but it’s consistently 20%-30% slower. I assume that’s due to pressure on their shared infra? It’s been an unexpected surprise.

@umachingunde @regulatorynerd @nikunj When our second was born my sister in law came over and focused most of her energy on our first, and it was a special time for both of them, and a gift for my wife and I to know that first baby was in good hands and being fawned over.

@kch @maiab Apparently we don’t add fluoride to our water here. Maybe that’s why I’ve had a handful of cavities over my life so far… it can’t be about eating sugary foods and consuming sugary drinks… 🫣

@kch @maiab Here in Vancouver we have really good tap water. I don’t notice until I go almost anywhere else and find the water has a weird smell, is too hard, etc.

@kch @maiab I’m genuinely curious about how people form views about things like this. I appreciate the context @maiab shared. There’s no fight here, as far as I can tell. 😀

@kch @maiab I still don’t understand the problem… it seems like reducing the rate of tooth decay is a good problem to solve….?

@DrGuitar Also, this video from Paul Davids’ YouTube channel is a good dive into the guitar riff:

@kch @maiab Sure, if I want potable water I can filter and purify it myself, too. 😅

@ChShersh It’s funny how some things fit in your brain for awhile before getting evicted. OAuth is in this bucket for me. I’ve implemented several different flavours of it several times, but if you ask me how they works I can’t tell you.

@tweetinAdams @AdamRackis Same. I think for me it hit home when I travelled to less wealthy and privileged places and realized how many opportunities were available to me (in Canada). Also, winning the genetic lottery and being fairly intelligent is something I didn’t realize I had for some time.
