This is why I hate when y’all minimize talks about colorism to desirability in the dating world as if a large portion of society doesn’t surround the amount of respect they give someone on how ‘attractive’ they look.
I just read a story of a woman who was talking about the concept of ugly & beautiful for women. She said she grew up w/ it being made very clear she was ugly. She said as a grown woman, people threw garbage at her or moved away from her. Just her presence made them hateful to her.

During times of war in Sudan, girls had to take old/worn t-shirts and cut them to create make-shift pads. They’d often take a singular t-shirt to evenly split into pads for all of the girls in the family.
Girls and women in war zones going through periods are the strongest people ever. You cannot convince me otherwise.

Abyei will always be Southern land. We’re just waiting for formal acknowledgments. The Dinka tribe/ethnicity is broken amongst clan lines, & the Ngok clan occupies Abyei. Although we have our own clans, as a whole, our history and livelihoods are intertwined-.

Yes, the Dinka tribe is one ethnic group, but please know we consist on NUMEROUS clans with our own customs, cultures, and history. South Sudan is still home to 63 other tribes as well. We are Nilotic but South Sudan is not a homogeneous society at all!.

My parents became political refugees after Omar Al-Bashir’s government began threatening my father’s life for speaking out against what the Janjaweed/Khartoum government were doing to Black Sudanese people. My parents never wanted to come here.
