But donât forget: âIt is only Ukrainians that get to decide what is acceptable to them as an outcome of any peace negotiations.â With U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth recently saying that Ukraine returning to its pre-2014 borders is âan unrealistic objective,â and Trumpâs phone call with Putin dominating the news, itâs worth remembering who should have the final say. Especially since weâve been so focused on the issue of our own sovereignty lately. Trudeau gets it.
