When I was growing up, my parents raised me right. My Mom once said that there’s only one American who's allowed to do that kind of salute and his name is Mel Brooks. I am leaving Twitter. Many film heroes of mine have already left, seeing the writing on the wall months ago. They were smarter and more courageous than me. I’ve met so many of you through this platform, and I feel so lucky to have connected with you when I did. I discovered countless movies and filmmakers that broadened my mind because of you, so thank you. I’ve heard every argument for staying—that leaving the conversation means that you can’t change the conversation, but I disagree. I’ll leave this page up for educational purposes, and I might use it to promote work in the future that deserves a leg up. I hope that someday I’ll be back, but for now, I’m going to join the people who are growing the film community on other platforms. I think we all have to leave, but I'm not in charge. I wish you well, and I hope to see all of you very soon elsewhere. -Jim
